The Biometrics Institute has been promoting the responsible and ethical use of biometrics for more than 18 years. Last year we began working on the Biometrics Institute Good Practice Framework.  This document is a first-of-its-kind good practice tool that outlines the stages of the strategic planning, procurement and operation of a biometric system or network. Its primary function is to provide a structured pathway through the factors that may influence or constrain a biometric application.

We presented the first draft of the framework to members and key stakeholders at events in London, Australia and New Zealand at the end of last year and consulted extensively with members.

On the day:

We’ve chosen a border management scenario which a team of experts will use to work through a section of the framework each. This is a demonstration of the tool using a random real-life scenario we hope all our members will benefit from.

You will gain invaluable insights into the methodology of using the framework, even if your work is not borders focused. We would like all our members to attend.

We’re expecting and encouraging lots of interaction in this online meeting. We want your thoughts and questions which our panel will discuss to give you the best start getting to grips with the framework.

You will get a copy of the framework when you have registered for this event and we have received payment.

Why you should attend this demonstration workshop:

  • Learn the basics of how to navigate the framework
  • Gain insights how this framework provides you with the key considerations of implementing a biometric solution
  • Assess where your knowledge gaps are
  • Understand better how complex a biometric implementation is and how many stakeholders you need to involve

Who should attend:

  • Those responsible for policy, process, technology and decision-making
  • Any sector using or supplying biometrics
