Terry Aulich\nChair of the Privacy Committee of the Association of Market and Social Research Organisations\, Terry Aulich is also the Chairman of Aulich & Co\, strategic advisors\, pollsters and market researchers since 1993. He was a state Minister and Federal Senator for over sixteen years where he was chair of a number of influential committees\, one of which was the Australia Card committee which recommended the successful implementation of Australia’s Privacy Act\, the 100-point bank identification system\, the tax file number system and other ant-fraud measures. This interest in security/privacy and new technology drove much of Aulich & Co’s services to companies and government agencies that needed to match people management with technology and market penetration.  \nHe is Head of the Biometrics Institute’s Privacy and Policy Expert Group and provides strategic advice to the CEO and Board. \n\nOUTLINE\nThis workshop will help you clarify your ideas about privacy and your organisation\, especially in answering the following key questions. \na) What is the law?\nb) What is best practice?\nc) How can privacy affect my organisation’s reputation and public trust? \nA Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) is a process which helps organisations plan their privacy policies and practices so that risks are anticipated and the privacy of people dealing with that organisation is protected. \nAll PIAs should be conducted at the planning stage of any new business development and it is especially important to do this when introducing biometrics. \nThe half day course will help you develop a PIA tool for planning\, rolling out and managing a business development which contains a biometric. \n\nAGENDA\n\n Why a Biometrics PIA?\n Who should be involved in the PIA process?\n Setting up a PIA\n Conducting a PIA\n Working through a model PIA in detail? How could this relate to your own environment?\n Summary and final questions\n\n\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND?\n\n Any senior officer of an organisation in both the public and private sector.\n Any key information officer who has responsibility as the manager or sub-manager of privacy issues.\n Any senior technical person who will be a decision maker or have responsibility for the planning\, roll-out and management of a biometric based business system.\n\n\nBECOME A MEMBER AND SAVE\n\nBecome a member now to take advantage of the reduced rates. \n\nIMPORTANT DISCLAIMER INFORMATION\nBy registering for this programme\, I acknowledge and agree to the following: \n\n The Biometrics Institute expressly disclaims any representations and warranties with respect to the Privacy Impact Assessment (“PIA”) and the Biometrics’ Institute related courses\, tutorials and materials (“Materials”);\n The Biometrics Institute shall have no liability to me\, any organisation that I represent or am affiliated with\, or any third party with respect to any matters arising from the use of the PIA and the Materials; and \n The PIA and Materials are not intended to be legal advice\, and the Biometrics Institute recommends that I seek competent legal counsel to advise me on privacy and biometrics related issues. \n\n\nThe Biometrics Institute provides training and course material as a tool to help you conduct due diligence. He leads the IREX\, FRVT and FIVE evaluations of iris and face recognition technologies that support biometrics in national scale identity management. He co-chairs NIST’s International Biometrics Performance Conference on measurement\, metrics and certification. He edits the biometrics specifications for the US Government’s PIV credentialing program\, for which he received his second Department of Commerce Gold Medal. He assists a number of US Government agencies on research\, development and evaluation\, and serves as editor of several ISO standards – he received the IEC 1906 Award in 2009 and the ANSI Lohse IT Medal in 2013. \nMei Ngan is a scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
